Petronet LNG Limited, one of the fastest growing world-class companies in the Indian energy sector, has set up the country's 1st LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej, Gujarat, and another terminal at Kochi, Kerala.
While the Dahej terminal has a nominal capacity of 10 MMTPA [equivalent to 40 MMSCMD of natural gas], the Kochi terminal has a capacity of 5 MMTPA [equivalent to 20 MMSCMD of natural gas].
The company is in the process to build a 3rd terminal at Gangavaram, Andhra Pradesh.
Petronet LNG Ltd was formed by the government of India to import LNG and set up LNG terminals in the country.
It is a joint venture company promoted by the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL),ONGC, IOC and Bharat Petroleum Corporation with an authorised capital of $240 million.
Each has 12.5% equity share totaling to 50%.
In addition, GDF International (GDFI), a wholly owned subsidiary of ENGIE, holds 10%.
The balance of the equity, 40%, is held by the public.
