 Bob Dudley was born September 14, 1955 in Queens, New York and graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in Chicago in 1973.

He joined Amoco in 1979. In 1994 to 1997 he worked for Amoco in Moscow.

Between 1999 and 2000, he was executive assistant to the group chief executive, subsequently becoming group vice president for BP’s renewables and alternative energy activities.
In 2002, he became group vice president responsible for BP’s upstream businesses in Russia, the Caspian region, Angola, Algeria and Egypt.

From 2003-2008 he was president and chief executive of TNK-BP.

From 2009 till now – Managing Director and a member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, and President of the BP Group.
On July 27, 2010, BP announced that Dudley would succeed Tony Hayward as BP's group chief executive on October 1, 2010.


In March 2013, Dudley was offered a seat on the board of Rosneft. Robert Dudley doesn’t possess shares of Rosneft.


Member of the Russian Geographical Society Board of Trustees.


Dudley is married to Mary Dudley, and they have two children.
