Italian PET resin producer Mossi & Ghisolfi denied Tuesday market speculation that it has already sealed a deal to purchase Rhodia's PET business in Brazil. "We are reviewing various options but have made no firms decisions yet," Marco Ghisolfi said. The company's interest in Rhodia's PET operation has been public knowledge for some time, but speculation came to a head after Ghisolfi underlined its interest at ChemSystems' Annual European Chemicals and Petroleum Conference earlier this month. Rhodia-Ster produces 180,000/mt of PET resin and 90,000 mt/yr of polyester fibers at Pocos de Caldas, Brazil and also 250,000 mt/yr of PTA through Rhodiaco, a joint venture with BP.
