Born on January 2, 1969 in Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod region.


He graduated from Moscow State University Physics department and Plekhanov Russian Economics Academy.


1994 - chief financial officer of Aluminprodukt.
Through the company, he bought a stake in a Siberian smelter plant, beginning his ascent to the top of one of Russia's roughest industries.

1996 - became a director of Sayan Aluminum Plant, which is one of the biggest aluminum plants in Russia.

2000 - assumed control of Russian Aluminum.

In March 2007, RUSAL completed a merger with Russia’s SUAL and the alumina assets of the Swiss company Glencore.
United Company RUSAL, the enterprise formed through this merger, became the world’s largest aluminium producer.

Currently he is the chairman of the board of directors of Basic Element Company, which owns 75% of Russian Aluminum, automobile manufacturer GAZ, aircraft manufacturer Aviacor, insurance company Ingosstrakh.

Oleg Deripaska owns a 100% stake in Eurosibenergo, the world’s largest private hydrogeneration company and the largest private power company in Russia

In 2010, under Deripaska's leadership, Rusal became the first Russian company to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

As of 2016, Deripaska maintains his position as President of RUSAL, focusing on the strategic development of the Company

Deripaska is married to Valentin Yumashev's daughter, Polina. The couple has 2 children.
