Biography

Born on January, 23, 1946 in Moscow.

Graduated from Moscow Forest-technical Institute (Department of electronics), then from Moscow State University (MSU) (Department of mechanics and mathematics), then post-graduate courses in MSU.

Doctor of Physical-Mathematical Sciences, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences.

During a year (from 1968 to 1969) worked as an engineer in research institute of trial machines.

In 1969 occupied for a short time the post of engineer in Hydrometeorological research center.

From 1969 to 1987 worked as an engineer, then as a senior research assistant, then head of a sector in the Institute of Administration problems of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

From May, 1994 to March, 1997 was chairman of joint-stock company Logovaz board of directors. The company was established by Berezovski in 1989.

In July, 1994 there was an attempt on Berezovski`s life (his personal driver died in the incident).

In September, 1996 after privatization of Sibneft entered the board of directors of this company.

In October of the same year was appointed to the post in RF Security Soviet where he worked till November, 5, 1997.

When Yeltsin resigned on December 31, 1999, Berezovsky lost his status as a Kremlin insider and one of Russia’s most powerful men.

In 2003, as Russia was seeking his return, Berezovsky was granted political asylum by British authorities.

In 2012, he lost in London his high-profile claim against Roman Abramovich in a verdict that not only depleted his shrinking resources but demolished his credibility.

Boris Berezovsky was found dead on 23 March 2013 aged 67 in Berkshire.

«There is nothing I want more than to return to Russia… I lost the meaning… I am 67-years-old and I don’t know what to do next», he told a journalist from the Russian-language edition of Forbes, an American publication, a day earlier.
