UK oil output fell to 2.388-mil b/d in December, down 9.3% from 2.634-mil b/d in December 1999 but up from 2.322-mil b/d in November, the Royal Bank of Scotland said in its latest Oil and Gas Index Wednesday. Gas output fell to 11.439 Bcf/day from 13.078 Bcf/day in the year earlier period, and down from November's figure of 11.621 Bcf/day.
The long-term trend for gas output remains upward, the bank said, with average production during 2000 up 9.9% compared with 1999's figures. The twelve-month average for oil output, however, fell to 2.41-mil b/d, down 8.1%. Notable increases in oil output during December came from BP's Forties and Andrew fields, up 34,200 b/d and 18,900 b/d respectively. Output from Texaco's Captain field fell 13,200 b/d and Shell's Shearwater output fell 12,000 b/d.
