More than half of gas pipelines in Russia are outdated, announced Alexander Machulin, the director general of Promgazenergoservis LLC, a company implementing maintenance and repair of gas equipment.
Alexander Machulin, announced this at a session of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Committee for Business Activity in Housing and Utility Sector.
According to him, deterioration of gas equipment is a big problem, which must be solved, first of all, in order to avoid increasing emergency situations related to household gas.
«At present, there are gas pipelines in operation that are 40 – 50 years old and they account for 60 % of total amount», noted Machulin.
The expert also lamented that often, when overhaul is carried out, a gas distribution system is not taken into account.
