Russia and Iran to begin work on the construction of the 2nd stage of Bushehr nuclear power plant

Russia and Iran are going to begin work on the construction of the second stage of Bushehr NPP. This was reported by the general contractor of the project Rosatom on September 6, 2016.
Construction of the second phase of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran will be carried out on a basis of a new safety concept.
According to Rosatom, the ceremony of laying the first stone in the construction of Bushehr-2 NPP will be held on September 10, 2016, at the NPP site with the participation of the Head of Rosatom Sergey Kirienko.
The Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant started operating in Iran in 2011 and reached full capacity the following year.
The project for Bushehr-2 was presented by Russian nuclear experts in Tehran in September 2014.
In November 2014, Iran signed a number of deals with Russia for the construction of 2 new nuclear reactors at the Bushehr site with an option for an additional 6.
