Rosatom arranged the return of 178 employees from construction site of Rooppur NPP (Bangladesh) to Russia

Rosatom arranged the return of 178 employees from construction site of Rooppur NPP (Bangladesh) to Russia

Nizhny Novgorod, April 8 - Neftegaz.RU. Communications Department of Rosatom reported on April 7:  “When our employees find themselves abroad in this difficult situation and want to return to their homeland, we will accommodate their needs. On 6 April, with the permission of Russia’s government, we were able to organise the first such flight to transfer 178 [employees] who have expressed the desire [to come home] from Bangladesh to Russia."

The aircraft from Dhaka has landed in Nizhny Novgorod as most of the arrivals are employees of Rosatom’s Engineering Division, whose head office is in this town. On board were also employees of subcontracting organisations involved in the construction of the Rooppur NPP, where the general contractor is Rosatom’s Engineering Division.

All passengers on this flight will undergo mandatory testing for the COVID-19 infection, after which they will need to spend two weeks in isolation at one of the regional dispensaries under medical supervision.

At present, more than 4,000 people are involved in the construction of the Rooppur NPP. The temporary relocation of 178 employees will, therefore, not affect the project, which will continue being realised according to schedule.

At the site itself, Rosatom has strengthened measures to counter the spread of the infection; introduced procedures to remotely measure employees’ temperatures at various locations, including the site’s main entrance, the entrance to office buildings, and the dining room; arranged for the special disinfection of all office space; and issued masks to all employees.

Rosatom is taking the necessary measures to minimise the negative impact of this pandemic on supply chains and to meet its obligations to its customers on schedule, as stipulated in the relevant contracts.
