Canadian Fuel Consumers Revolt

Canada excites rebellion among motorists

Canadian Fuel Consumers Revolt

Canada excites rebellion - the Quebec branch of the Canadian Automobile Association has called on angry motorists to fill a form of a protest letter on its website to express their indignation with skyrocketing fuel prices.
The letter states that while governments and the oil industry rake in millions of dollars with each price hike, motorists and the economy have been suffering the consequences. The campaign, named Pumped Up About Gas Prices, also demands fairer gas prices, which are now hovering around $1 a litre in several provinces.
The letter is automatically sent to the big oil companies, Prime Minister Paul Martin, and the finance ministers in Ottawa and Quebec City.
CAA-Quebec spokeswoman Claire Roy said Wednesday more than 33,000 people have already signed the form and that motorists from outside Quebec are also welcome to join the campaign.
