Georgian Foreign Minister Tedo Japaridze was the first member of the new Georgian administration to visit Turkey on official duty.
Turkish foreign minister and deputy prime minister, Abdullah Gul, said in a statement after his meeting with Japaridze that turkey welcomes the Russian proposal on selling Russian oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
According to Gul, "we discussed this issue. Talks on the issue have been held between Georgia and Russia. The honourable minister briefed us on these talks. We would be very pleased if such an addition, a connection, is made to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan line to accommodate the Russian oil. The capacity of the pipeline is conducive to that".
