Russia may auction the first of the generating companies that the government is spinning off from national power grid company Unified Energy Systems, accepting both cash and UES shares as payment, Russian news daily Vedomosti reported, citing the Economic Development and Trade Ministry.
The ministry is preparing a draft sale program for Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, the newspaper said, citing unidentified ministry officials.
The ministry suggests selling wholesale generating company OGK-5, which will include four plants that burn fossil fuels, the paper said.
Fradkov may delay the plan until next year, Vedomosti said, citing unidentified officials from the government, the Federal Property Fund and the Kremlin.
