Sibneft Vice President To Resign

Acting president of Sibneft Alexander Ryazanov announced the resignation of company vice president Mikhail Stavsky while in Noyabrsk, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area yesterday, Kommersant daily reported.

Ryazanov publicly asked the executive to reconsider, be he was unswayable. Stavsky refused to discuss his reasons for leaving Sibneft or his future employment plans with journalists. Stavsky was general director of Sibneft-Noyabrskneftegaz, Sibneft?s main production unit, as well as vice president of the parent company.

Ryazanov was on a two-day visit to the main areas of Sibneft?s activities accompanied by members of the board of Gazprom, which recently bought the oil company, head of the Gazprom department of regional relations Viktor Ilyushin, first vice president of Sibneft Alexander Korsik, Sibneft vice president for production Andrey Matevosov and Sibneft vice president for processing and marketing Andrey Komarov. It is not known who will replace Stavsky.

Sources in the company name as contenders Noyabrskgazdobycha Co. chief engineer Valery Minlekaev, Sibneft-Noyabrskneftegaz chief engineer Sergey Ruskov and Matevosov, who headed Sibneft-Noyabrskneftegaz from 1998 to 2000 and for most of 2004. Other sources say that Matevosov is also preparing to leave the company.
