Elvira Nabiullina, Russia's Economy Minister, announces that the Russian government has approved a draft plan for Russia's development until 2020
She noted that the document still had to be completed within the next two weeks. The minister pointed out that the blueprint included Russia's development targets and the instruments to attain them. The plan is really ambitious in Nabiullina's opinion.
According to the document, Russia's strategic goal is to achieve the level of economic and social development confirming Russia's status of a leading nation of the 21st century. Between 2015 and 2020, Russia is to join the world's top five countries in terms of GDP. Specifically, GDP per capita is projected to grow from $13,900 in 2007 to over $30,000 in 2020 and around $50,000 in 2030.
