The news came from Gazprom's official spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov.
Naftogaz of Ukraine's gas debt under a contract with RosUkrEnergo amounts to $428m for September 2008, $798.6m for October 2008, and $835m for November 2008. In addition, fines and penalties that have built up since March 2008 have reached $350m.
Gas deliveries planned for December are estimated at $862.3m, hiking Naftogaz's total debt as of December 2008 up to just over $3bn.
