Russian Anti-Monopoly Service Stops Rising Oil Prices

Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has announced that oil product prices have stopped rising on the domestic market, RBC reports

Russian Anti-Monopoly Service Stops Rising Oil Prices

The regulator's chief Igor Artemyev made this statement during a press conference today.

He noted that the pause in price growth could be attributed to the service's announcement in mid-February that it had opened new cases against Russia's major oil companies - Rosneft, Lukoil, Gazprom Neft, and TNK-BP.

Artemyev also stated that the antitrust watchdog did not intend to withdraw the court charges against the companies, even despite the price stabilization.

If the service wins this case, the official pointed out, businesses will change their attitude towards not only the Anti-Monopoly Service, but also towards the Russian government as a whole. He explained that other producers in various economic sectors would then be discouraged from hiking up prices.
