Putin launched the Zapolyarye-Purpe, Kuyumba-Taishet oil pipelines and the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta-2 gas pipeline

Vladimir Putin on January 18, 2017, took part in the launch of the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta 2 gas pipeline and put into operation 2 new gas pipelines Zapolyarye-Purpe and Kuyumba-Taishet.

The demand for energy resources and hydrocarbons in the world will grow, so it is necessary to make timely investment decisions on projects in Russia, President Vladimir Putin said in a video conference.

He stressed that this 3 pipelines will significantly expand capacities of the national oil and gas industry.

Transneft’s 2 new gas pipelines - Zapolyarye-Purpe and Kuyumba-Taishet - will ensure oil intake from new fields of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Zapolyarye-Purpe will pump 7.5 million tonnes of oil in 2017, said Nikolai Tokarev, CEO of Transneft.

Kuyumba-Taishet will pump around 1 million tonnes this year, Tokarev said, rising to 8 million tonnes a year by 2020.

The ceremonial inauguration of new production capacities and the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta 2 gas trunkline took place today at the Bovanenkovskoye field.

The event was attended by Alexey Miller, Gazprom´s CEO, the ceremony featured an address by President Vladimir Putin, who spoke via a conference call.

In parallel with boosting production capacities in Yamal, Gazprom actively expands the northern gas transmission corridor within Russia's Unified Gas Supply System, building new gas trunklines.

The Bovanenkovo – Ukhta and Ukhta – Torzhok pipelines are already onstream.

With its initial gas reserves estimated at 4.9 trillion cubic meters, Bovanenkovskoye is the largest oil, gas and condensate field in the Yamal Peninsula.

Field development is carried out by Gazprom Dobycha Nadym (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom).

The field's output was 4.9 billion cubic meters of gas in 2012, 22.8 billion cubic meters in 2013, 42.8 billion cubic meters in 2014, 61.9 billion cubic meters in 2015, and 67.4 billion cubic meters in 2016.
