Deputy Petroleum Minister of Iran for International Affairs Amirhossein Zamaninia said on August 29, 2017, that Rosneft was eager to launch cooperation with Iran on swap of crude oil as well as on expansion of Iranian oilfields.
Zamaninia made the remarks following a meeting in Tehran office with Otabek Karimov, Rosneft VP in commerce and logistic, Andrey Lazeev, VP chief geologist and Vlada Rusakova, VP in gas business.
The official said Rosneft is keen on cooperating with Iran in swap of crude oil and petroleum products.
The Iranian side stressed that the Russian oil giant has also indicated willingness to join development projects in Iran's oil fields including Azadegan, Maroun, Koupal and Yaran projects.
«Azadegan is the core of Iran's upstream development plans, and accounts for most of Iran's target for oil production capacity increase. Hence, the upcoming tender is perhaps the most important event the government has been looking forward to for months now, if not years,» said Iman Nasseri, a senior consultant at FGE.
Azadegan currently produces around 125,000 b/d, with 75,000 b/d from the northern portion and 50,000 b/d from the south.
NIOC plans to raise production to 150,000 b/d in the north and as much as 600,000 b/d in 2 phases from South Azadegan.
«Iran seems to be in favor of having a Russian/Chinese partner in key developments to keep the project alive together with the local contractor should a 'snap back' of sanctions pull the European partner back out of the project,» Nasseri said.
