Saudi Arabian foreign affairs adviser: Americans did not need to tap its strategic crude oil reserve

The United States May Relax

Saudi Arabian foreign affairs adviser Adel al-Jubeir said yesterday, that Americans did not need to tap its strategic crude oil reserve in an effort to cool high oil prices.

The Bush administration has resisted pressure to stop adding to the 660 million barrel crude reserve amid soaring gasoline and crude oil prices.

Yesterday OPEC during their meeting in Beirut on Thursday agreed to raise output by two million barrels a day.

Saudi Arabia, which fought for the production boost to untie the United States and other nations from releasing their strategic oil stockpiles.
