British Gas company has lost 350,000 customers for the first half of the year, its owner Centrica reported.
The reduction follows due to the fire at the firm in February when it raised household bills by 22%, despite seeing an 11% rise in annual profits.
Like all gas and electricity providers, British Gas has had to cope with higher wholesale prices over the past year.
Centrica said trading at the start of the 2006 was challenging, and that its wholesale costs were still rising.
