Moldova Wants Russian Gas At Lower Price

Moldova's President Vladimir Voronin made his statement about the desiarble gas prices decrease in the video conference between Moscow and Chisinau that was held yesterday.

Voronin pointed out that Moldova was currently paying $318 per 1,000 cubic meters, adding, however, that the procedure for setting gas prices was connected to the global oil prices in accordance with existing agreements. With this in mind, Moldova forecasts a considerable drop in gas prices in the spring.

The Moldovan leader also indicated that a diversification of gas sources was impossible for the country, and no such projects existed at the moment.
