Once operational, the new facilities would increase RasGas LNG exports to 36.6Mta, which represents a sizeable proportion of Qatar’s target of 77Mta by 2012.
RasGas now produces more than 20Mta of LNG with five trains in operation and has spent a total of $20bn on a number of projects, including Trains 6 and 7.
Hamad Rashid al-Mohannadi, company CEO told the Gulf Times that negotiations with ExxonMobil were continuing for the potential to supply gas into the US markets through the Golden Pass Terminal, which is being built by Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhilips.
Regarding its fleet size, which now stands at 26 ships, he said that by October RasGas would receive into charter a 262,000 cubic metre Q-max carrier and, combined with sister company Qatargas, would have a combined Q-flex/Q-max fleet of 45 ships by early 2010.
