The first deputy head of the national service Valery Khoroshkovsky was the newsmaker.
Proceedings were initiated on March 2, with the top officials at Naftogaz of Ukraine suspected of abuse of office and conspiracy to seize the gas.
According to Khoroshkovsky, Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine exchanged several $1.7bn payments between January 21 and February 5, including for the purchase of Ukrainian gas that was not to be found in gas storages.
The gas was sold by Gazprom to RosUkrEnergo in 2006-2008, and was considered to be in transit. It is up to the owner to switch between regimes, the official said.
