Yerevan, December 14 - Neftegaz.RU. According to Armenian Arca, Armenia’s acting Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Garegin Baghramyan denied media reports claiming that Russia is going to increase the price of gas it ships to Armenia across Georgia from January 1, 2019.
Speaking to reporters after a Cabinet session today he said Armenian and Russian officials were still negotiating on the price of Russian gas for Armenia.
«These are quite complicated negotiations that require a long time. The termination of the current contract is not a problem, because it will be automatically prolonged. We will continue receiving gas in 2019», he said. He said the Armenian side is seeking a drop in the gas price.
In September Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan ordered creation of a task force that was to look into the factors and components that influence the price of Russian natural gas delivered to Armenia. During a September 8 meeting in the Kremlin Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin agreed to look into the pricing of Russian gas delivered to Armenia.
The Russian natural gas is delivered to Armenia by Gazprom at a $150 per 1000 m3, but Gazprom’s Armenian subsidiary - Gazprom Armenia - sells it to Armenian households at almost $300.
