ROSATOM and Congo will devel workforce capacity and make efforts to create a positive public opinion on nuclear energy

Moscow, November 26 - Neftegaz.RU. The Ministry of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and ROSATOM on November 19, signed 2 memorandums: a memorandum on cooperation in the education and training of the Congolese nuclear personnel, and a memorandum on cooperation in the creation of a positive public opinion regarding nuclear energy in the country.

The documents were signed by D. Maduka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Nikolay Spassky, Deputy Director General for International Relations, ROSATOM.

The documents determine the framework conditions for interaction in the key areas with the view to developing the Congolese program for the peaceful use of atomic energy.

In particular, the memorandums provides for the actions to develop the worforce capacity for the nuclear infrastructure of Congo, as well as efforts to foster relations between field-specific educational establishments, including organization of joint short-term programs, training of teachers, preparation of specialized educational and scientific materials, and also student exchange projects.

The memorandum on cooperation in the creation of a positive public opinion envisages the parties joint organization of events as part of the work wiht public and the Congolese media, as well as provision the public with information about nuclear technologies.

Tthe first document in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy was signed between the two countries in Ferbuary 2018. It is planned to start developing approaches to constructing such facilities as a Center for Nuclear Science and Technology with Russian-designed research reactor at its core on the territory of Congo.
