Russia and China signed the Executive contracts for the construction of Tianwan NPP and Xudabao NPP

Beijing, March 12 - Neftegaz.RU. ASE (Rosatom Engineering Division) and CNNC enterprises signed a General contract for units 7 and 8 of Tianwan NPP, as well as a contract for a technical project for units 3 and 4 of Xudabao NPP.

The preparation of these documents was carried out in accordance with the strategic package of agreements signed during the visit of Vladimir Putin to China. This package defines the major lines to develop cooperation between Russia and China in the nuclear industry for the next decades.

Tianwan NPP is the largest facility built with a Russian-Chinese framework of economic cooperation, with Units 1 through 4 based on the VVER-1000 reactor type.

Construction of Units 5 and 6 at Tianwan continues, with those reactors scheduled to come online over the next 3 years. Those 2 reactors are of the ACPR-1000 design. The 1st reactor utilizing that design began commercial operation this past summer, at Unit 5 of the Yangjiang NPP in Guangdong province.

Another 2 units, 7 and 8, are scheduled to be built at Tianwan under an agreement JNPC recently signed with Russia and Atomstroyexport. Those units will be 3rd-generation VVER-1200 reactors, the same technology for 2 other new reactors also included in that deal, at the new Xudabao nuclear site.
