Workers still being checked as Italian plant closes indefinitely....
The Beltrame Company of Italy has had to close its melting shop in Vicenza because of a radioactivity scare. It is not known how long the closure will be and whether production at the rolling mills will be affected.
An enquiry has been opened by the Vicenza procurator, while the staff and the area are still being checked. The radioactivity was reported to have been detected in EAF baghouse dust, but nothing alarming has been found, reports say.
Beltrame operates one of the biggest steelmaking plants in North East Italy.
