Russia?s Federal Tax Service asked its Murmansk regional division to send teams of inspectors to carry out inspections at two subsidiaries of MMC Norilsk Nickel by January 24, Interfax reports.
The order, a copy of which is in Interfax's possession, was issued on October 29.
The tax inspectors were asked to check that the Kola Mining and Metals Company has paid its mineral extraction tax and the tax on the use of water resources, and that the Severonikel metals combine - part of the Kola MMC - has paid all taxes.
