Gold futures rose slightly Monday
Gold futures rose slightly Monday to close above $427 amid investment demand supported by fresh violence in Iraq and some weakness in the U.S. dollar.
February delivery gold was up only 20 cents to close at $427.10 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange?s COMEX division. But prices haven't closed at a level this high since Jan. 5.
Other metals futures in New York climbed as well, with the exception of March silver, which lost 0.45 cent to close at $1.43 a pound.
