Russian Gold Mining Decreased, But Only For A While

In the first quarter of 2005 Russia decreased its gold production by 10.65% as compared to the same period last year ? down to 22 tons 350.2 kg, according to Gold Manufacturers Union. Gold mining decreased by 11.6% down to 16 tons 700.5 kg.

However, the experts forecast that gold production in Russia this year will grow up to 183 tons from 180.5 tons in 2004.

Krasnoyarsk region, where Polus Company operates, is still the leader in gold mining in Russia, its results in January ? March 2005 was 5760.2 kg of gold (452.1 kg more than the same period 2004).
