Gold futures soared in New York on Thursday on fund buying, traders and analysts said. Gold surged to 1 1/2-month highs, despite the euro weakness, which was close to nine-month lows.
August contract gold settled up $7 at $437.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
