Most of the precious metals fell on Monday on long liquidation, intensified by a surge in the U.S. dollar, traders and analysts said.
December gold plunged $3.80 to $447.60an ounce on the Comex division of NYMEX.
"It's really all about the buck and the euro," said Frank Lesh, futures analyst with Rand Financial Services. "They (the metals) were following it pretty closely today."
