The Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service permitted businessman Mikhail Prokhorov to purchase 73.1 percent of Polyus Gold's shares, RBC reported
Prokhorov will gain an almost 75-percent stake in the Russian gold producer. His application was submitted by the Russian Anti-Monopoly Service on February 9, and approved on February 27.
Polyus Gold's main shareholders are Russian businessmen Vladimir Potanin (a 35-percent stake) and Mikhail Prokhorov. Meanwhile, some media resources reported in March that Potanin sold between 20 and 30 percent of Polyus Gold's shares to Suleyman Kerimov.
