Two explosions damaged an oil pipeline in northern Iraq yesterday, interrupting the flow of crude oil by 80 per cent.
The targeted pipeline connects Baiji and Dura refineries some 200 km north of Baghdad, said Majid Mannun, chief engineer for the Baiji plant. According to him, two explosive devices hit this pipeline reducing the flow of oil by 80 per cent.
Meanwhile, the line, which connects the southern Rumailah fields with the Basra port, was broken on Saturday, causing a major oil leak. The pipeline caught fire on Sunday during repair work.
