Sad Day For BP

A massive explosion blasted oil refinery in Texas, killing at least 14 people and more than 70 were injured. The refinery is owned by UK oil and gas giant British Petroleum.

The refinery has been absolutely destroyed by fire, burning to cinders and rubble. The capacity of the plant was 450,000 barrels of crude oil each day. It produced 3% of the country's oil supply, and was third biggest oil refinery in the US.

BP said they hoped that there were only 14 dead people.

The explosion happened at 1930 GMT at the western end of the plant, which covers an area of almost 500 hectares.
