Petroleum Development Oman Stops Al Amqat leak

The press release of Petroleum Development Oman, PDO, said yesterday that an oil leak occurred on the main oil line on Tuesday at Al Amqat near Bid Bid area. Within an hour, the company deployed resources to site in terms of manpower, equipment and others that were necessary to repair and resume operations within the shortest possible time.

The leak was plugged and operation of the main oil line proceeded within few hours. There was no oil deferment during the time of repair from producing fields. Clean-up operations are already under way and PDO is committed to restoring the site of the leak to its original state. In the meantime PDO has established a high-level team to carry out a comprehensive investigation of the accident. PDO would like to thank the Royal Oman Police and the locals for their support in the initial containment of the oil spill.
