A chemical tanker spilled its inflammable cargo on a southbound lane of EDSA in Makati City after it was nearly sideswept by a speeding bus early Monday, according to a radio report.
The chemical tanker was traveling along the southbound lane of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue when it evaded colliding with the speeding bus and instead rammed the center island near the tunnel underneath Ayala Avenue at about 3 a.m. Monday, a dzMM report said.
The near collision reportedly caused the tanker to spill its load of 22,000 liters of ethanol alcohol which it was supposed to deliver to Cavite, the report said.
Heavy traffic was experienced by motorists as authorities temporarily closed the southbound lanes of EDSA from Buendia to Ayala avenues to clean up the spilled chemical and prevent any accident which may ignite the highly flammable cargo, the report added.
