Russian pipeline incident has left almost 60 tons of diesel in nature

About 50 to 60 tons of diesel fuel spilled from a pipeline April 4 along the shore of Pevek lagoon (in the Chaunskiy district of Chukotskiy region, Russia) five to seven kilometers from Pevek city, the Russian environmental watchdog, Rosprirodnadzor, reported. The agency did not mention who owns the pipeline, RIA-Novosti reported.

The spill affected both ice on the water way and land. Workers are currently cleaning up the spill and have already pumped five cubic meters of oil products from the ice.
