Rosneft´s CEO participated in BRICS summit in Brazil

San Paolo, November 18 - Neftegaz.RU. During the visit of the of Vladimir Putin to the BRICS summit in Brazil, the CEO of Rosneft Igor Sechin as part of the Russian delegation took part in a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the countries in which the company's projects are being implemented

Those included negotiations of Putin with PM of India Narendra Modi, Chairman of China Xi Jinping, and President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro.

In addition, a meeting between Igor Sechin and Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil Bento Albuquerque was held on the sidelines of the summit. The parties discussed the company’s gas production project in the Solimões Basin, as well as opportunities for deepening the cooperation in Brazil.

Rosneft has been developing the hydrocarbon exploration and production project with gas potential in the Solimões River Basin, State of Amazonas. The company owns 13 licence areas with a total acreage of about 32,600 sq. km. The areas contain 60 billion cu m of conventional natural gas resources. There are 57 million tonnes of prospective oil and condensate resources and 176 billion cu m of prospective gas resources.

In June 2019, Rosneft Brasil and the Government of Amazonas State signed an agreement providing the Solimões project with tax incentives, assistance in the construction of the required infrastructure, and other benefits.
