Belarus and Kazakhstan to consult with Russia on oil supplies via its territory

Nur-Sultan, October 25 – Neftegaz.RU. Belarus and Kazakhstan will consult with Russia on oil supplies through its territory, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media after his meeting with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev today, BelTA has learned.

According to the Head of state, Belarus pays special attention to the diversification of oil supplies and is interested in importing this raw material from Kazakhstan.

“We have agreed to hold consultations with the Russia in the near future. If we agree, Kazakhstan's oil will be delivered to Belarus through the pipelines located in Russia. I think we will reach an agreement,” Lukashenko said. As BelTA reported earlier, Belarus and Kazakhstan have agreed on oil supplies and are launching commercial negotiations.

“We have agreed on the text of the intergovernmental agreement. The document will be subject to domestic approval. However, we have agreed to begin commercial negotiations with business entities without waiting for the signing of the document,” said Chairman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim Andrei Rybakov.

According to him, negotiations will be held at the Belarusian concern and the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan. The 2 agencies will supervise the talks.

He did not disclose the commercial component of the upcoming negotiations, explaining that “it requires silence”. “We will all feel its results. They should certainly be mutually beneficial,” said Andrei Rybakov.
