EU To Assess Damage Of Oil Leaks

Portugal and Spain have decided to invite European Union specialists to evaluate the environmental consequences caused by the sunken oil tanker.

The leakage has resulted in a 278 km-long, 28 km-wide oil stain on the sea near one of Spain's richest fishing areas.

The Portuguese government was taking steps to ensure the effects of oil pollution would be kept to a minimum degree should the winds change direction and blow the oil from the neighboring Spanish coastline.
