A Submarine crew had patched one of the holes in the sunken oil tanker to stop more fuel oil leaking from the vessel.
The test was carried out to see if patching could prevent further oil licking hitting northwest Spain's shores.
It is still unknown when experts aboard the French mini-submarine Nautile would be able to say if plugging was a solution.
The tanker Prestige sank on November 19, six days after oil began leaking.
Experts estimate the ship took 56,000 tonnes of its total load of 77,000 tonnes to the ocean floor, where it was leaking 120 to 125 tonnes daily.
