Australian environmental agencies have brought up objections against Chevron Tecaco?s plans to build a plant for a multibillion-dollar gas project on Barrow Islands.
Chevron claims that only a plant on Barrow Islands makes the project economically viable and that alternative locations would not be acceptable.
Within 10 weeks, the regional government has to decide on the request which has also to be approved by parliament.
The earliest date for the beginning of the construction would be 2005.
