Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev sigend the law On changes to Article 32 of the Federal law On Electric Energy’, the president’s press office has reported. This law envisions giving priority access to the wholesale electricity market to thermal power stations which use associated petroleum gas (APG) or products refined from APG as their main fuel.
The law is intended to establish the economic conditions necessary to stimulate more rational use of APG and stimulate reductions in pollution and waste from flaring. The law was passed by the Russian legislature on 26 February 2010 and approved by the Federation Council on 3 March 2010.
