Kudos to Mobil Nigeria

Education Minister Fabian Osuji has expressed Nigeria's gratitude to Mobil, the sponsors of the Akwa-Ibom State Schools' Sports Athletic Championship held at the weekend.

The minister further disclosed that the federal government was aware of Mobil's effort in providing incentives such as scholarship and sports equipment to schools for sports activities. "It is a laudable effort in getting students from various schools and backgrounds compete among themselves in a healthy rivalry," he said.

Osuji called on other corporate bodies to emulate Mobil's good gesture. "It is gratifying that the Mobil schools championship is a veritable tool for youth development as the winners are not only given gifts items but were awarded scholarships. The government is also appreciative and encourages private participation in sports. The effort of Mobil Nigeria is commendable and I call on other corporate players in the organised private sector to emulate this laudable example," the minister said.

The two-day schools athletic championship was initiated to assist students with special talents in sports to continue their education with the award of scholarships to winners.
