Beginning in March, the Taganrog automotive plant will assemble a pilot batch of 30 Hyundai Sonata cars of the fifth generation to test the process of serial assembling and quality control. In April, the plant is going to start mass assembling of the cars.
The Taganrog automotive plant plans to assemble about 4,000 Hyundai Sonata cars in various modifications by the end of 2004.
Formerly, the Taganrog automotive plant was assembling only one model of Hyundai, the Hyundai Accent . In 2003, the plant assembled about 6,000 Accents. In aggregate, in 2004 the plant is going to assemble about 21,000 Hyundai automobiles.
