Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel announced that its three largest Arctic deposits contained proved and probable reserves of 6,6-million tonnes of nickel and 9,7-million tonnes of copper.
Norilsk said that measured and indicated resources at Talnakh were 8,146,000 tonnes of nickel and 15,769,000 tonnes of copper. Preliminary estimated resources were 4,484,000 tonnes of nickel and 9,254,000 tonnes of copper.
Analysts said the numbers were slightly above expectations, because it was expected that Norilsk?s total proved and probable nickel reserves were around six million tonnes, while the three deposits contain most but not all reserves.
