The chief executive of UK oil major BP Lord John Browne is going to visit Russia next week for negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He intends to clarify the rules for foreign investors in Russia?s energy sector, reported the Financial Times.
Lat Monday, the joint venture of BP and Russian firm TNK-BP was hit with a 26bn rouble ($936m) government demand for back taxes.
Lord Browne is expected to ask Putin why the TNK-BP 2001 back tax bill jumped to almost $1 billion.
