Russian president Vladimir Putin and BP chief Lord John Browne met on Friday to seek reassurances about the business climate amid worries about a $1bn back tax bill, demanded by Russian authorities from British-Russian venture TNK-BP.
Putin has told that he expects BP?s business in Russia to grow, boosting hopes for the future of TNK-BP.
Putin said BP was a "good corporate citizen", but neither man mentioned the back tax claim.
"We hope that in the future your business will grow," Putin said.
