Russian gas monopoly Gazprom is eyeing to acquire a control stake of Russian oil company Sibneft.
Sibneft is the fifth largest national oil
company owned by Millhouse Capital, which declined merger bid by Yukos oil company, which at that time had become chased by the tax authorities.
Sibneft?s spokesman Alexei Firsov said that the company was not on offer, but the report sent the company?s shares 4.4 percent higher at the opening to $3.07, valuing the company at around $14 billion.
